Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum

Smith&Cross’ history dates back to 1788 with a company located by the London Docks. Here jamaican arrived from the West Indies and rested in extensive cellars along the river. The company has always produced a jamaican navy strenght rum (57% ABV). The rums of this particular blend come from Hampden distillery and they’re produced thanks to double-retort pot stills. They’re then shipped to England where they age for a couple years before commercialisation.

TASTING NOTES SMITH&CROSS TRADITIONAL JAMAICA RUM

Nose

grassy, vegetal notes and brine notes come up first. They’re followed by a solvent aroma along with the alcohol burn. A bit rough, but very flavorful.

Palate

again those briny notes, with oak, licorice and rosemary. A little spiciness in the background. This rum is very intense and dry.

Finish

a very long finish. Dry and vegetal with fruity notes.

It really stands out in its category thanks to the almost non-existent sweetness. The grassy and briny notes interact creating a very intriguing mix.
